Let’s go fly a kite!
Look what we found on the way home from the market!

Oh Queensland, I love you more and more each day. That’s our fabulous friend Mikayla, she is just so ace and such a good friend to Tate and Zoe. We love you Miki!!!!

Oh dear, I’ve been a bit slack with the blogging. Please accept my apologies. I have a new job! A little job in a little clothing store, a clothing EXCHANGE! I had my first day on Wednesday and it was really fun! I had just as much fun as the customers looking through all the clothes. Since then I’ve been making bibs. Cute little dribble bibs. They feature a fleece back and a hidden layer of flannel to help keep clothes dry. I remember the days of wet necked bubby tops, and the constant stream of dribble.

There are many more in the works.
Tomorrow I’ll be back at the little shop. I’ll be enjoying the excitement of election day from that little gem overlooking the water. I will remember to take some lunch this time, my own mug and maybe some herbal tea. I look forward to chatting to funny ladies, looking through to see what new items have come in. A day without children pulling on or lifting up my skirt. Bliss.

I’ve just listed this ‘berry’ cute apron on Made It.

I would TOTALLY be keeping it if it fitted me. Why didn’t I buy more of that fabric?
Look at my little tweetheart tag! And the rick rack trim!

So I decided to make the girl some bloomers. My initial plans were for some longer old style ones, but for starters this is what I made. (please ignore the loose thread!)

She loves them.

I thought they’d be worn under dresses, but Zoe is happy to wear them as is. She even wore them baggy style before I put the leg elastic in, up to the supermarket.
I started this little apron today too. I really really love this fabric. It comes from retromummy! Corrie really does know cute. You know I can’t go past a good strawberry print!

Did you see the facebook thingie over on the right? If you click on it, you’ll be taken over to the little tweetheart facebook page! I’d love it if you could like me on facebook. That would be really nice!
As always, thanks upon thanks to Kirsten at Kootoyoo! Head over there for more creative spaces, it would be fun if you played along too!

I am really really loving where we live right now. It is a gem of a spot. Our little duplex is just two streets back from the beach. It is so fast to walk or ride there that whinging on the way back is a real rarity!
We went there today. There is a strip of scrubland along the shoreline, so a little walk through the ‘jungle’ is required to get there. Zoe kept telling us about the stick insects, there are lots there apparently. She can hear them. We saw some animal poo on the path that Tate decided was wombat poo and the wombat must’ve escaped from Australia Zoo. Hmmm, there was also some mention of a panda. I think we need to do a bit more learning about native animals.

As they do, the kids ended up stripping down to their undies for a swim. A great antidote to grumpy tired child syndrome.

I have a feeling that this place is going to be more and more fun as the weather warms up. I can’t wait!

Oh, I got some cute new graphics from that wonderful place known as ETSY! In particular, mine were from RetroGraphics and I couldn’t fault her fast and friendly service, affordability and original designs. I just noticed the store is closed until the 15th of August. Well worth looking at after that if you’re in the market!

Cheerio!!
At the request of a grumpy almost-three year old, today I made her a skirt from her most very favourite material. Yep, Michael Miller Mermaids…Man! She adores this fabric so very very much.

Now I’ve worked out how to ‘roll hem’ on my overlocker, I can’t get enough of it. So roll hem, 3 thread overlock together and shirr the top. Done! So very easy. I was banned from taking a photo of the skirt, so I had to sneak this one. I told you she was grumpy today.
I cut out another little apron. I’m hooked on these.

Oh, and on Monday I finished a cute frilly apron for Sunshine n Lollipops. It is in the store now!

I hope you’ve been a bit creative this week too. For inspiration check out all the crafty peeps mcs-ing it this week over at Kootoyou xoxo
July is looking the goods. We’re in our awesome little unit duplex, the boy has started kindy two days a week, I’m getting lots made and my birthday is only 4 more sleeps away!
We are so happy to have Nanny and Pa here.

Nan arrived just in time for her birthday. Zoe and I made her a special cake. Zoe helped make it, even the decorations, can you tell?

I’ve been setting up a store on ‘made it’. You can see it here, but I’m still getting everything loaded. Postage within Australia is FREE! I have a very lovely and amazing new friend up here who is keen to share a stall at Peregian Beach. Anna makes the most beautiful dresses for little girls, think linen and frills. Just gorgeous. We’re both busy sewing goodies to take. I’ll let you know when we make a date.
My aprons will also be available over at Sunshine n Lollipops! Sarah is ace and will add a few goodies to the aprons so keep an eye out! They’ll be off to her early next week. This is really exciting for me, I’m stoked to be a part of that cute little store. Sarah stocks the most delightful things! We really really love her piggy tailers.

Our trip up here in the van, being without my sewing machine (well, unable to use it anyway), and having so much ‘thinking time’ has given me renewed focus. I’m so excited to be back on the apron making. I really do love it. I have some more designs to make up, and maybe even a grown ups apron? We’ll see.
Well, off to cook dinner, fish. Oh yes, the boys have been catching ‘em. While the girls… buy temporary tattoos?

Hooray!!
Apron - Zophia! (comment number 13)
Brooch - Kellie! (comment number 1)
Drawn by zoe, tiny pieces of screwed up paper with comment numbers written on in her favourite bowl.
Here is the back view of the apron

It is really pouring with rain right now! We’ve been busy baking today, using packet mixes that give me incredible guilt. Do you ever use packet mixes? I usually don’t, but gee they are easy!
Today was a funny day. A good day. It was sunny and glorious. The fella was off work for the day and took Tate fishing, which is a brilliant situation for everyone. It has become a tradition for Zoe and I to bake or beach or both whilst the boys are off in the boat. Today she was determined to bake. I looked in the fridge. Tiny bit of milk, tiny bit of butter, one egg. Oh dear. SOooo, I created a recipe! I’m quite the slap dash cook when it comes to everything else… but baking I always use a recipe. Here’s what we came up with
Limey Coconut Cakie slice
1 heaped cup SR Flour
1 cup Sugar (I would reduce this)
1 cup coconut
1 egg
1/2 can coconut milk
the zest of 1 lime
2 big Tbsp butter (melted)
Mix it all up (with a mini whisk if you are 2) and pour into a greased small slice pan
Bake at 170 for 25 min.
While still hot in the pan make a syrup with the juice of your 1 lime and 1/4 cup water. Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved. Pour over your cake. EAT!

Creatively my outlets today included cutting Z’s fringe and a spot of face painting. Neither of which were a roaring success.

I picked up this pink teapot during our travels. Port Macquarie I think? I made the little rainbow scarf on the road too. I’m not quite sure who its for. We really don’t need scarves up here.

Just looking at it brightens my day.

Oh, and more Birdie Brooches are in the works. I got my little parcel from The Haby Goddess today, and the brooch backs are perfect. Highly recommend!
Happy Weekend!!
