Tatie’s new top

February16

So I started writing an awful post about the state of my mind at the moment - not much fun for anyone. I couldn’t find the picture I wanted, so left it. I’m off to a counsellor on Monday, probably a better place to discuss things ;)

This shirt from the lovely Nat & Paul at Moederkip arrived in the post today. Tate was SO excited!! He is such a funny little guy at the moment. We took it in turns taking photos.

The shirt is beautifully made. He loves it! so do I!

He got a real kick (couldn’t breathe for laughing) out of taking a photo of my ass. It looks wierd due to the thai fishing pants… honest!

On the fifth day of christmas…

December17

my true love gave to me… A DAY LOO-KING AF-TER HIM.

Firstly, I’m sorry for dropping off the edge of the blogosphere. Life has gone a bit haywire! We have renters moving in mid January and lots and lots of stuff to sort out. I’m working at a great new job and am also responsible for packing everything. Who’s crazy idea was that? Thankfully my mother has seen the mayhem and my distress and has been coming to help organise stuff. Yes, she is a gem!

So why am I looking after Mr Tweetheart today? Well this morning he well and truly ‘did’ his back. BAD. Like unable to walk or stand bad. Poor fella! So I played nurse crappy today. Fetching tablets and cold packs,  He assured me the Osteo lass he spoke to on the phone recommended panadeine forte and alcohol. Really?? “yep, to really relax my back”. I’m still not 100% convinced.

Today an exciting and wonderful PARCEL arrived from the exciting and wonderful VIC!!  Thank YOU soooooo much! You made our day. I love the japanese craft book far too much. WHY oh WHY was I not switched on to looking for these when I was in JP all those years ago? Damn hello kitty stuff, that’s what I bought *sigh*. We all tried on the sunnies and it was declared they looked the best on me! Into the glovebox they go, in preparation for the BIG TRIP. Also in the parcel was a jar of great glass beads, which I think my mum will be getting some in the form of a necklace for xmas, and some crafty extra goodies like embroidery floss and buttons, YUM! All in all a very lovely thing to recieve on a funny kind of day. Which reminds me of another awesome parcel which arrived earlier in the week…

A perfect and gorgeous and very very loved pixie from Megsie (pint)!!!! I loved M’s pixies since the first time I saw one, but they are very very difficult to buy. So much love and attention goes into these pixes, by one busy and creative mumma, they are only for sale as she makes them. Anyway, I passed on a vintage toy I picked up to Megsie. Her sis had told me that she’d had one as a child and it was very special to her. It made me happy to find the perfect owner. M had mentioned that she was making me something, but I thought it might be one of her christmas ornaments. Imagine my delight when a pixie arrived! not any pixie either, one with ginger hair and strawberry clothes and a strawberry in her hair!! Perfect! She is so beautifully made, and that felt is GREAT! I love her to bits, she is known as mummy’s special flying baby. I was tempted to put her away for christmas for Zoe, but my name was written on the card ;) and I don’t want her treated like any old toy. She is going to be trasured. For Sure.

OK, why the lack of photos? Um, I can’t locate my camera charger right now. I think I need to go and charge at my mum’s place. Sorry!

On the craft front a few little things have been happening. Clips, simple flower tawashis, a dress cut out for me, a couple of aprons. I really want to make the amigurumi jellyfish for my brother’s girlfriend. I have the pattern, yarn and hook ready to go. Now I just need the time. Anyone want to come and help me pack boxes?

Didn’t think so…

Never again will I trust old bias binding

November11

I had a fabulous morning today. A gorgeous parcel from Retro Mummy arrived & I whipped up a very cute dress for Zoe (not the RM fabric, some other stuff). I also decided that bias binding was my friend. For BB (bias binding) had helped me make a quick and easy dress and looked neat and lovely! I’m afraid I didn’t get a photo soon enough…

The BB ran. Really really badly. Bright pink on a white floral print kinda bad. I realised when Zoe’s chest was tinted pink after dribbling her pineapple. I took the dress off her and rinsed it in cold water. Oh my gosh! SOOOOO much dye ran out, and continues to do so. Hmph! This is the last time I buy old bias binding at the op shop.

bb

Guaranteed Fast Colour??? I think NOT. Then if I wasn’t already feeling sad enough, I prewashed some of the cute fabric that had arrived. Cream fabric washed with pale brown fabric? NOT a good idea. TWO colour running incidents in one day. Not happy. I hope I’ve learned my lesson.

Day 2 ~ Book Jumping

October3

My children are very interested in ‘jumping into’ things at the moment. Tate first tried jumping into the TV while watching the Fairy Dancing DVD, then it turned to books. I found Zoe trying to jump into this book today. I asked her to re-enact the jump outside so I could take a photo, she happily agreed. I think she thought the jump might be more effective outside, sadly not.

This is the scene she wanted to join… the ladder and the pears, oh my! Just quietly I think I’d be a bit worried about the geese. They can get all snaky you know, and there would be a fight for the pears.

book

I noticed the book has been dedicated to Mirabelle. This reminded me of the softies for Mirabel drive that I will make a softie or few for. Softies For Mirabel is a wonderful cause, and there is plenty of time to get involved!  I think I’ll use the cute new pattern that arrived today from Claire at CraftSchmaft ~ Toot the loveable sock owl. Don’t worry, I’ll use new socks!

oh, Hi!

June30

I’m sorry for my prolonged absence.  I have been completely productive in my computer free time. Crochet-ing my little heart out, whipping up scarves, beanies, little girl’s tops in this cool weather.

crochet top

This top was crocheted using the Roselette pattern on Ravelry. So EASY! I immediately started an itty bitty one for my itty bitty neice. It turned out darn cute too. I hope to get a photo of her wearing it when we visit. Oh, and guess what? You can get the pattern in adult sizes! hmmmm, one might be coming my way.

Crochet top back

We returned from holidays to find an awesome parcel awaiting (actually more than one parcel….but that’s another story)swap

Within my parcel of loveliness from the wonderful snailblazer swap was:~ green patchwork scarf from Cass (I wear this heaps!), crochet beanie from Meika, knitted washcloth from Kylie, Handmade soap from Allison, Hairclip & brooch from Karen, Sweet Loyalty Card Wallet from Ingrid (which suits my handbag beautifully), Handy Denim Wristlet from Cindy, Mushies fabric basket from Adds, drawstring project bag from Caroline!, and last but not least… a super cute sock owl from Clair. He has found a friend in Bob, our big sock monkey from poppy, bean & bloss.

I endeavour to be back and posting regularly very soon. xx claire

I won!

cuckoo

This gorgeous cuckoo clock brooch from Betty Jo Designs. I won it by leaving a comment on her blog! I didn’t try to be witty, but I was honest and I was having a bad day… I just  love the quirkyness of it, and apparantly I’m quirky.

Anyway, I adore it! Thank you Betty Jo. Oh, and I’m wearing it today.
