Christmas Wrap Up

December28

Apologies AGAIN for my sporadic blogging. We are still at the green house, filling boxes, de-cluttering and dreaming of our trip.

Highlights of christmas were ~ waking up to the sounds of little hands ripping into wrapping paper, “Santa has been!”, “Feliz Navidad” (from Zoe, the Dora fan), riding my bike to my folks’ place wearing my NEW helmet, Tate learning how to skip, the FOOD and outrageous stories from my bro. Now what’s a christmas morning photo without bad hair?

Low point ~ erm, falling off my bike on the way home… too embarrassing! It could’ve been the wine, or my lack of fitness and coordination…

Remember this boy?

Here he is, freshly shorn for xmas.

He is completely happy with his hair cut, feeling and acting like a big boy!

I have been doing the teensiest bit of crafty stuff. Some clips I’m working on for the nieces…

And an apron or two

Now I haven’t properly introduced this little lady…. please meet Audrey, a gorgeous pixie from Megsie.

The little space bib from last night is winging it’s way to Steffi. :)
I’ll be back soon with this week’s give-away, I’m thinking it could be a little bit vintage.  Stay tuned. xox

Day 16 ~ Frifty Friday?

October16

I’m sneaking this in before midnight… not much to report. I now have two clean cut children, well their hair has been cut. We did sneak in a 4pm trip to the op shop. Not the best idea I’ve had. Two overtired children and one cranky and overtired old op shop lady didn’t make for a calm and pleasant shopping experience. There wasn’t much of interest today, a few kids books (shhhhh), a couple of pink tops that Mr Tweetheart doesn’t like (pfft).

Thursday Onions

October8

OK, this post has nothing to do with onions REALLY, I couldn’t even use any while cooking this evening because the one that was left was sprouting and smelt funny…. Buuuuut, I did wear this apron.

A lovely, crisp thrifty find :)

My lovely mum came over today, did some tidying and brought lots of flowers from her garden! I’m hosting mother’s group tomorrow and she wanted me to appear to be a domestic goddess, but who are we kidding? The flowers are very pretty, and have made my nose very tickly!

Please notice the clear surfaces on which these are sitting…. You can even see the floor in my sewing room. Oh yeah, daddy-o and the kids planted the strawberries yesterday. Doesn’t the handpainted pot look great? The kids think they do!  We used washable powder paints, so I’m not sure how long the designs will last….

Its all about the strawberries & a free soaker

October6

Its no secret that I love strawberries. To eat and anything with a strawberry motif. My most beloved strawberry themed item is this apron. It is very well worn and almost falling apart but I still love it to bits. A long time ago before children, in the summer of 2000 I would wear it ‘half apron’ style to dance parties teamed with chunky strawberry hair bobbles I bought in japan and possibly red legwarmers. Cute huh? It was so much fun. Now I get excited over the little strawberry shaker that holds my bi carb…

I made this little girl’s apron for a swap a while ago. It had a matching bag too.

We still haven’t planted the strawberry seedlings, but I’ve found some pots and will pick up some potting mix.  Here’s a few more strawberries…

And finally a Baa Bums soaker free to good home…. size Large I think? Here is is on Miss Zoe’s bottie… Leave a comment if you want it :) I’ll throw in a brand new Cute Tooshies Bamboo Delight nappy too. I’ll choose the winner randomly in the morning (if there’s more than one comment!) more freebies to come :)

busy busy busy

Well it feels that way at the moment. I’ve begun working as a barmaid, at a bowling club which means lots of lovely old folks. It feels good to be out and working again, making new friends and being useful.

At this stage there is no apron as part of the uniform, but I plan to work on that. A little black apron with pockets is on the cards. My black work pants are sans pockets, and an apron would be lovely.

I was so happy to sell some of my aprons this week! So the packing and sending of those has taken a little while, then there’s the vintage sheet swap I’m participating in. Sorry, I don’t have a link, I have lost it myself! I’ve been finding, washing, ironing, cutting, ironing and folding vintage sheet fat quarters a little laborious I must admit. It will be wonderful to recieve my parcel of different fqs though!

Then there’s the snailblazer swap I mentioned a few posts back. I’m making aprons for that too (no surprises here right?) and bought some fabric today. So I’m going to be busy making 10 ladies aprons in the next month. It will be fun to create the design though, which simply must be super cute. I’m loving Snailblazer’s travellers. They are gorgeous and such a great idea. I’m so tempted to by a couple for the kids to put away. They’re a bit young just yet.

Oh, and this morning I woke up at 6am BY CHOICE, although the kids both slept through(!) to ensure I won this baby on ebay. Cute huh? Oh ebay, I have missed you.

And, the gorgeous thing (well one of) taking up the majority of my time? This little fella. He is a singing and dancing delight. So full of questions and hilarity.

Ruffling some feathers…

I’ve had the image of this apron in my mind for some time. The kids were in bed early last night, so I got sewing!!

Shown on 1.5 year old Zoe, it would fit a wide size range (looks pretty cute on me!) I love it… Soon to be available for purchase over at ozebaby.

Hello!

April1

Thank you for popping by. Please ignore the packing boxes around the place. I’m just moving in.

I’ve been a busy bee in my sewing room, today finishing a sash for a dress that will be worn in a wedding on Saturday.  Then it will be back to the apron making. I really really love aprons. I began collecting vintage aprons while I was at uni. I used to wear them around the place. I tried this about a month ago, thinking it added a very cute touch to my outfit. I was put off when someone asked me if I’d been baking… me “no, why?”…”because you still have your apron on”. “Oh, I was just wearing it for a bit of fun”. Hmmm, perhaps it isn’t as cool when you aren’t an Arts student?

Here’s the sash. It’s for a 12 year old sister of the bride. The dress was originally yet another sister’s deb dress. Good reuse of clothing ladies! I’ve never sewn with satin before, or made a sash, so I’m rather pleased with myself.

And Meaghan has taken some amazingly gorgeous photos for moi. I’m eternally grateful xox

Yep, they’re my aprons on my beautiful children!
