I’m still here!

January16

I’m sorry Little Tweetheart blog. Life really did get in the way there for a bit. I have plans for a blog revamp and a life that puts time aside for things like this, playing in the blogosphere.

I’m still working in the big smoke, which I’m rather loving. I have my sewing mojo back. I’m really into sewing clothes for me at the moment. I dove back into Sew-U home stretch on the weekend and whipped up a dress that was then cut down to a top. Another one, who might remain as a dress is on the cards and will hopefully get cut out tonight.

The family are good, so good. Tate is starting grade 1 this year, and baby Zoe will be at big girl kindy. Mr Tweetheart has really taken over the kitchen, which is good, because he can cook! He can clean too, bless him. We had a nice break over the holiday period, going out in the boat, to the beach, to the bush (Daylesford is bush right?), I inhaled and memorised as much of those kids and those times as I could.

So 2012 is looking happy so far. I’ve got a good feeling about this one…

No photos today. I’m typing this on my little orange work laptop on the train, there are no photos on it!

Whoops…

June12

I did it again. Not blog for ages that is.

Well, life went a bit nuts there for a while. Like we moved back to Victoria, for better or worse is yet to be decided. I’m back doing full time work in the BIG smoke, Tatie is at a new school (which he loves, phew), we’re back in the big green house, I’ve finally learnt to  knit (!), there are renovation plans, new babies to visit, old friends to catch up with, new friends to discover, and as always, my messy sewing room.

Well it isn’t too bad at the moment, but there are still a number of boxes to be unpacked, and no space left in the cupboard. The renovation plans include a new master bedroom, which means  that our current bedroom will become available. Lots of cupboard space! Bright! Spacious! I can’t wait for that.

Working full time is difficult. Being back at work is lovely. Its a really great bunch of people, including a few I worked with way back when. I even ran a ‘crafternoon’ last Friday and taught some ladies how to make birdie brooches. Nice. The difficult part is being away from home so much. I miss my babies. I don’t get to do school drop offing or pick upping. I sneak out beforee cherubs even wake up. This is really wierd. A very different dynamic for our little family, not necessarily a bad one, though I’m wishing and hoping for a nice job closer to home.

tate-xray

What else? Tate seems to get sucked in by any fad/advertising. He thinks ‘Handee Ultra’ is just awesome. Sigh. We’re working on it. Plus he broke his wrist, wicked! Oh I’ve finally been watching season three of True Blood. Um, LOVE! Especially Eric. Pam’s makeup looks very rough on our ridiculously large TV though.

Oh dear. I’ve just gone and fetched the camera and… no cable.  So no shiny new photos for this little old blog.

bemused?

I’m loving THIS post. So true. Especially the deep sleeping partner, even the cats. Miss Zoe still wakes up every night. I bought her an electric blanket today, in the hope that keeping her toasty warm might trick her into sleeping through. Sigh again. I will report back on how it goes.

We miss our Sunshine Coast friends. So very much. Very very much. And possibly the weather, more than a bit.

So I’m back, more regular blogging I promise. My favourite QLD friend demands it…

xoxo

oh hi!

March9

Well this poor old blog has been abandoned for months. Time for a little bit of blog loving I think! I did just pay to renew the domain.

We are in a different house in a funny housing estate that could almost be a retirement village. Lots of oldies, very manicured lawns, no rowdiness. It is really rather relaxing. We are surrounded by water, but alas… NO SWIMMING. The canals get deep, run quickly on the tide and may possibly be home to sharks. Poo. I would really really like a canoe though.

no-swimming

On the up side, we are really close to a 5 star resort, where it appears we are welcome to swim. Yay for that, and there are pretty amazing beaches a couple of minutes up the road.

So Tate has started school! He is going really well. Loving it in fact. Their feature author for this term is Dr Seuss, who Tate assures me is pronounced ‘Dr Zeuss’. I think I know Green Eggs and Ham by heart, and Great Day for Up. He has started playing soccer too. The training is pretty hilarious and adorable to watch. Some of the kids are still at the ‘NO HANDS!’ stage, they get confused as to which way to kick etc. Tatie is pretty good, he can kick really far. He is so tall and skinny, and asks me for snacks all the time. Usually he wants cut up cucumber, cherry tomatoes and little squares of cheese. Yes, I am asked for that EVERY DAY. Tempted to buy those precut squares of cheese…

tate-school

He is still as sweet as they come, showering me with love and cuddles every day. Bless.

I’ve listed a few things in the Made It shop. Little bibs, a couple of aprons and Little Miss Muffet hats.

Back soon… I promise xox

Sunny Sunday

November14

Well the Sunshine Coast lived up to it’s name today. OK, apart from one downpour early this morning, it was truly glorious.

We’ve started going to the local market again. Its a practical fruit and vegie, satay stick, trash and treasure, goldfish, secondhand crap type of market. We love it. There is even a very cute merry go round which looks like it has been ridden by a million kids. I promise to get a photo next week! (OK, I can’t promise… but one day). Our favourite buy today was… mangoes. $1 each, hooray!

mango2

I am a HUGE mango fan. I love them. I really do! I think Zoe has inherited the love.

Guess What??? Mr Tweetheart, who so rarely buys me flowers (shame!) snuck off to buy these. Cute huh?

And he surprised me at work last week with a pink iced cupcake. He is totally in the good books!

Its so lovely to be able to do things together on the weekends. This was so tricky when running a caravan park.

greenie-bird

Craft wise? Um, well I made this single birdie brooch. He is for a special order, yep I do those! I’m about to cut out a few aprons for christmas presents. Big girl ones for our big girl friends and nieces. I do hope you have had a delightful and productive weekend!

November

November10

So far November is going swimmingly. Literally. We have been swimming a number of times already. Our mates live at a resort with a pool, so convenient and free!

We had our friend’s Alice in Wonderland party last weekend. Tatie and Mr Tweetheart went as tweedle dee and tweedle dum - the Tim Burton version. They looked super cute. Here’s Tate..

tweedle

Zoe was Alice, like her big girl friend Mikayla.

We also dressed up to go to Australia Zoo on Halloween. Tate’s pirate costume didn’t last long, too hot!

zoo

So we found a place to rent. It is perfect, apart from the lack of fans or air con. I don’t cope exceptionally well with hot weather, so this will be a test for sure. Pedestal fans don’t work as well as ceiling fans do they?  Bum. We’ll work it out.  It is a great place though! We even discovered a great playground just around the corner.

I hope you’re having a wonderful week!

Give me an F

November1

For fail, flunk, fooey. Blogtoberfest was a wipe out for little tweetheart this year. Once I fell off the wagon I couldn’t get back on. Apologies to anyone who rubbed their hands together with glee when I announced my participation in Blogtoberfest, a month of posting every single day. I failed you.

October for our crew was rather busy, and at times full on. To give you a run down… there was the birthday of Mr T, the ghost of Margaret in our house who required a visit from the local psychics, my newly acquired and I hope to be short lived cola addiction, trips in the boat, chins badly injured in scooter accidents, house hunting, market stalls, Mr T travelling for work, a BAD haircut (mine) which has resulted in the wearing of all manners of head scarf.

frog

We have had visits from cute frogs, annoying ants, numerous beetles and gratefully few spiders. Mr T bought a chopper. So did his bff.

bike

It needs a new paint job, but I must admit it is pretty cool. We sold our caravan! Tate was stung by a bluebottle at the beach (was that October?)

caaravan5

Um, what else? I surely picked up some cute dresses at the oppy and bought some tan in a can.

OK, I’ll stop now. Did I mention our computer lives on top of the washing machine? Very uncomfortable and not conducive to blogging. For real.

Melbourne Cup day tomorrow! Can’t wait for a squizz at the dresses :)

xoxo

An Enid

October3

So Blogtoberfest. Anyone can join in you know, it isn’t too late! Head on over to Tinniegirl’s place to join in.

Blogtoberfest means giveaways, lots of bloggy giveaways! I will be doing some giveaways too. Curlypops keeps a list of giveaways on her blog, there is lots of cool stuff up for grabs, so be sure to enter!

Yesterday I was lucky to have a few hours to myself. The rest of the family were otherwise occupied with football watching at a friend’s place and playing with the boy over the road.

So I attempted my first Enid. A pattern from Enid Gilchrist  that is. The Pretty Pinnie.

enid

This is how far I got… I just need to neaten the top of the zip and add the bias to the sleeves and she’s done. I used some old sheet fabric as my practice run.

pretty-pinnie

I think next time I’ll make a lining to avoid the bias, and maybe snaps at the back instead of the zip. I have seen Enid expert Tracy do this :)

See my laptop hiding in the corner of the photo? It lives on the washing machine. The only place in the house we can get wireless. The poor laptop now sits on some non slip rubber stuff, after she fell of during a spin cycle and sustained minor injuries. Nice!

Markets and printables

October2

So we had our first market stall last weekend. It was great! I’m afraid the photos I took were a bit crappy, which I blame on the nasty hang over and bad lighting. Here is a dribble bib on display. I hung a few on a mug tree I bought at Howards Storage World. They fit perfectly.

I wanted bunting flags for the ‘little tweetheart’ name. Of course I ran out of time so I went on the hunt for printable paper bunting. There are some cute ones to be found on Etsy. Like this Alice in Wonderland theme…

alice-bunting

I went with the FREE alphabet bunting found on the Ruffled blog.

I also printed up some Vintage Hanky Love Letters to use as price signs. A great free download from eat drink chic

hanky_loveletters_05

I joined blogtoberfest too. Eeeek! A post every day? Let’s see if I can do it! I promise more photos of our next market stall. xox

shiny and new

October1

The first day of the month feels promising. New beginnings and all that.

Vic is taking part in Blogtoberfest. I did join in last year, it was fun! I’m wondering whether I should join in again. I’m finding it hard to find the time to blog at the moment, now I’m a working gal. Work does have its perks, like the money, the folks I get to talk to and the clothes. Oh the clothes! I work in a clothing exchange. We carry sale stock from the fancy boutique up the road, and also sell items on consignment. I rarely get a chance to go shopping alone these days, so my wardrobe is slowly filling with clothes from work. Here is my latest favourite outfit…

new-outfit

Lisa Ho top, love love love this. 2nd hand it cost me $30. ‘Flower’ silk skirt with soft knit waistband $50. I especially love this because it didn’t fit me when it first came in. I tried it on again yesterday and it fit! What a great feeling. Those salad lunches must be paying off.

outfi

The shoes are from the local op shop and cost me $4.50.  The necklace was a birthday pressie from my new BFF. It came with a little tin of vintage buttons. Perfect? I think so. Blessed is me? Yes. I feel so lucky to have found my new friend. In fact I feel a whole post about her happening really soon.

Spring. The perfect opportunity to find a lovely new outfit, or even a great new friend. I hope you can too.
